சேரு பொருள் ஆசை நெஞ்சு தடுமாறி ( sEru poruLAsai nenju thadumARi): and the accumulated wealth - to these I was attached, and my mind tottered! சம்பாதித்த பொருள் இவைகளின் மேல் ஆசையால் மனம் தடுமாற்றத்தை அடைந்து,
தீமையுறு மாயை கொண்டு வாழ்வு சதமாம் இது என்று (theemaiyuRu mAyai koNdu vAzhvu sathamAm idhu endru): I fell into a destructive delusion thinking that this life would last for ever! கெடுதலைத் தருவதான மயக்கத்தில் வீழ்ந்து இந்த வாழ்வே நிரந்தரமாக இருக்கும் என்று எண்ணி
தேடினது போக என்று (thEdinadhu pOga endru theruvUdE): All the wealth I earned frittered away தேடிச் சம்பாதித்த பொருள் அத்தனையும் தொலைந்து போகும்படியாக
தெருவூடே வால வயதான கொங்கை மேரு நுதலான திங்கள் (vAla vayadhAna kongai mEru nudhal Ana thingaL): when on the streets, I began to chase young women with large bosoms and foreheads resembling the crescent moon; நடுத்தெருவில் இளம் வயதுள்ளவர்களான, மார்பகம் மலைபோன்றும், நெற்றி பிறைச்சந்திரனைப் போலவும் உள்ள
மாதர் மயலோடு சிந்தை மெலியாமல் (mAdhar mayalOdu chinthai meliyAmal): In order that I do not suffer an afflicted mind lusting for women, பொது மகளிரின் மீது மோகத்தால் அடியேனது மனம் நோகாமல்,
வாழு மயில் மீது வந்து (vAzhu mayil meedhu vandhu): You must come on Your immortal Peacock என்றும் வாழ்கின்ற மயிலின் மிசை நீ வந்து
தாளிணைகள் தாழும் என்றன் (thALiNaigaL thAzhum endran): to me who is prostrating at Your lotus feet உன் பாத கமலங்களில் பணிகின்ற எந்தன்
மாய வினை தீர அன்பு புரிவாயே (mAya vinai theera anbu purivAyE): and kindly shower Your grace on me so that all my mysterious karma is destroyed!மாயவினை அழியும்படியாக அருள் புரிவாயாக.
சேல வள நாடு அ(ன்)னங்கள் ஆர வயல் சூழும் (sEla vaLa nAdanangaL Ara vayal shUzhum): "Our country has plenty of sEl fish; its paddy fields are full of water on which swans glide; சேல் மீன்கள் மிகுந்த நாடு, அன்னங்கள் நிரம்பிய வயல்கள்
இஞ்சி சேண் நிலவு தாவ செம்பொன் மணிமேடை சேரும் ( inji sENilavu thAva sempon maNimEdai sErum): the fortress walls are so tall that the reddish gold terraces of our palaces touch the moon in the sky; சூழ்ந்த மதில்கள் வானிலுள்ள நிலவை எட்டும் செம்பொன்னாலான மணிமேடைகள் இஞ்சி (inji): ramparts, மதில்;

தீரமிகு சூரை வென்ற திறல் வீரா ( dheeramigu sUrai venRa thiRal veerA): You conquered that mighty SUran showing Your superior valour! தைரியம் மிகுந்த சூரனை வென்ற வலிமை மிக்க வீரனே,
ஆல விட மேவு கண்டர் (Ala vida mEvu kaNtar): He has a bluish stain on His throat due to consumption of the fiery poison; ஆலகால விஷத்தை உண்ட நீலத் தழும்பு உள்ள கண்டத்தை உடையவரும்,
கோலமுடன் நீடு மன்றுள் ஆடல் புரி ஈசர்(kOlamuda needu mandruL Adal puri eesar): and He is the Lord dancing prettily on the wide golden stage at Thillai. நீண்ட கனகசபையில் அழகுடன் நடனம் புரிகின்றவரும் ஆகிய பரமேசுவரன்
தந்தை களி கூர ( thandhai kaLi kUra): That SivA, Your Father, was ecstatic ஆன உனது தந்தை மகிழ்ச்சி மிகவும் அடையும்படியாக
ஆன மொழியே பகர்ந்து ( Ana mozhiyE pagarndhu): when You preached to Him the significance of the scripture (VEdAs)! சிறந்ததான உபதேச மொழியை உபதேசித்து
சோலை மலை மேவு கந்த (sOlai malai mEvu kandha): You have Your abode at SOlaimalai (Pazhamuthir chOlai), Oh KandhA, பழமுதிர் சோலையில் வீற்றிருக்கும் கந்தனே,
ஆதி முதலாக வந்த பெருமாளே.(Adhi mudhalAga vandha perumALE.): You are the first and foremost, Oh Great One! ஆதி முதல்வனாக வந்த பெருமாளே.
