Paraphrase
This song is based on the 'agapporuL Nal thAi irangal' form of poetry. In this poem, the mother entreats the Lord earnestly to come and hug her daughter who is tormented by the intense love she has for Him and is unable to bear the separation from her Lord.
கொடிய மத வேள் கைக் கணையாலே (kodiya madhavEL kai kaNaiyAlE) : Due to the cruel flowery arrows shot by the haunting Love God (Manmathan), கொடுமை செய்யும் மன்மதனுடைய கரத்திலிருந்து விடும் மலர் அம்புகளாலே,
குரை கண் நெடு நீலக் கடலாலே ( kurai kaNnedu neelak kadalAlE) : due the constant drone of waves from the roaring wide sea, and அலை ஓசை மிகுந்து ஆரவாரிக்கும் பெரிய நீலக் கடலினாலே, குரை கண் (kuraik kaN) : ஒலித்தலுக்கு இடமான;
நெடிய புகழ் சோலைக் குயிலாலே (nediya pugazh sOlai kuyilAlE) : due to the constant chirping sounds of the famous cuckoos from the tall and vast groves, நீண்டுயர்ந்த சோலையில் பாடிப் புகழ் பெற்ற குயிலினாலே,
நிலைமை கெடு மானைத் தழுவாயே (nilaimai kedu mAnaith thazhuvAyE) : this deer-like damsel is agonized by Your separation; - wouldn't You care to embrace her? (உன்னைப் பிரிந்து) தன்னிலைமை கெட்டு நிலைகுலையும் மானொத்த இப்பெண்ணைத் தழுவமாட்டாயா? நிலைமை (nilaimai) : சுய அறிவு;
கடி அரவு பூணர்க்கு இனியோனே (kadiyaravu pUNark iniyOnE) : Biting serpent is adorning Lord SivA as a jewel; and You are His dearest! கடிக்கும் பாம்பை ஆபரணமாகப் பூண்ட சிவனாருக்கு இனியவனே,
கலைகள் தெரி மா மெய்ப் புலவோனே (kalaigaL theri mA meyp pulavOnE) : You know all forms of Arts, and You are a true scholar! ஆய கலைகள் அனைத்தையும் தெரிந்த உண்மை வித்தகனே,
அடியவர்கள் நேசத்து உறைவேலா (adiyavargaL nEsath thuRaivElA) : You thrive in the love of Your devotees, Oh VElA, உன் அடியார்களின் பக்தியில் வாழ்கின்ற வேலனே,
அறுமுக விநோதப் பெருமாளே.(aRumuga vinOdhap perumALE.) : You are six-faced, and Your pranks are wonderful, Oh Great One! ஆறுமுகனே, திருவிளையாடல்கள் பல புரிந்த பெருமாளே.
