இன்பந்தனை யுற்றும காப்ரிய	மதுவாகி
அன்புந்திய பொற்கிணி பாற்கட	லமுதான
அந்தந்தனி லிச்சைகொ ளாற்பத	மருள்வாயே
முன்புந்தி நினைத்துரு வாற்சிறு	வடிவாகி
முன்திந்தி யெனப்பர தாத்துட	னடமாடித்
தம்பந்த மறத்தவ நோற்பவர்	குறைதீரச்
சம்பந்த னெனத்தமிழ் தேக்கிய	பெருமாளே.

Paraphrase

என் பந்த வினைத் தொடர் போக்கி விசையமாகி ( en bandha vinaith thodar pOkki vijaiyamAgi) : I should conquer the bondage of my karma and attachments by severing it. என்னைச் சூழ்ந்து கட்டியுள்ள வினை எனப்படும் சங்கிலித் தொடரை அறுத்து யான் வெற்றி பெற்று,

இன்பம் தனை உற்று மகா ப்ரியம் அதுவாகி (inbandhanai utru mahApriyam adhuvAgi) : I should reach a blissful state of mind and remain highly devoted.

அன்பு உந்திய பொற்கிணி பாற்கடல் அமுதான அந்தந்தனில் (anbu undhiya poRkiNi pARkadal amudhAna anthanthanil) : Propelled by love, I must desire to taste the Divine Nectar of Sublime ecstasy in the golden cup of my heart, அன்பு பெருகிய நிலையிலே பொற்கிண்ணத்தில் உள்ள பாற்கடல் அமிர்தத்திற்கு நிகரான, அந்தம் (antham) : beauty, excellence, happiness;

இச்சை கொள் ஆற்பதம் அருள்வாயே (ichchaikoL ARpadham aruLvAyE) : and to accomplish that, the basic foundation must be provided by You! முடிவான பேரின்பப் பொருள் மீது ஆசையைக் கொள்கின்ற ஆதார நிலையை நீ தந்தருள்வாயாக, ஆற்பதம்/ஆஸ்பதம் (ARpatham/Aspatham) : a place of refuge, asylum, புகலிடம்;

முன் புந்தி நினைத்து உருவாற் சிறு வடிவாகி (mun pundhi ninaithth uruvAR siRu vadivAgi) : Once, with the thought of destroying SUran, You took the form of a little boy (BAla KumAran), முன்பு, சூரனை அழிக்க மனத்தினில் எண்ணி, உருவத்தில் சிறியனாக, பால குமாரனாக, அவதரித்து,,

முன் திந்தியெனப் பரதாத்துடன் நடமாடி (mun thindhiyenap baradhAth thuda natamAdith) : and, after killing SUran, You danced to the meter of "Dhin Dhi" according to Bharatha Natya rules!
The last two lines can also refer to Thirugnana Sambandhar who appeared as a small baby before his foster father Sivapatha Hrudayar who had beseeched Lord Muruga to bless him with a child. Murugan appears before him as a small child and Sivapada Hrudayar takes Him home. In later years, Sambandhar sang pathigams and danced in front of the deity at various temples.

தம் பந்தம் அறத் தவ நோற்பவர் குறைதீர (tham bandham aRath thava nORpavar kuRai theera) : In order to fulfill the desires of Your devotees who do penance for removal of their bondages; தங்களது பாச பந்தம் அகல்வதற்காக தவநிலையில் இருப்பவர்களது குறைகள் நீங்க,

சம்பந்தன் எனத் தமிழ் தேக்கிய பெருமாளே. (sambandhan enath thamizh thEkkiya perumALE.) : You came into this world as ThirugnAna Sambandhan, learned the essence of Tamil and composed immortal hymns (ThEvAram) for the benefit of the world, Oh Great One! திருஞான சம்பந்தனாக அவதரித்து தமிழை நிரம்பப் பருகி தேவாரமாக உலகுக்குத் தந்த பெருமாளே.
