வாலியோடு நீலி பகனோடு ஒரு விராதன் எழும் ஓத கடலோடு விறல் ராவண குழாம் அமரில் பொடியாக (vAliyOdu neeli paganOdu oru virAthan ezhum Otha kadalOdu viRal rAvaNa kuzhAm amaril podiyAga) : VAli, Neeli, Pagan, unique demon VirAthan, the seas with rising waves and, in addition, the entire clan of mighty RAvaNA were all destroyed by Him in the war and shattered to pieces; Neeli is Ayomukhi, sister of Surapadma. While Rama and Lakshmana moved towards the south in search of Sita, Ayomukhi, tried to entice Lakshmana, who went alone to a pool to fetch water. When Lakshmana resisted and kept away from her allurements, she tried to carry him away into the sky. But, Lakshmana drove her away disfigured as in the case of Surpanaka. வாலி மற்றும் நீலி, (கும்)பக(ர்ண)ன், ஒப்பற்ற விராதன், அலைகள் எழுந்து வீசும் கடல், இவைகளுடன் வலிமை வாய்ந்த ராவணனுடைய கூட்டம் யாவும் போரில் இறந்து பொடிபட்டழிய;

Viradha was a Gandharva who had turned into a demon because of Kubera's curse. Rama and Lakshmana fought with Viradha when he kidnapped Sita. Viradha had a boon from Brahma which made him invincible to weapons. So the brothers kill the rakshasa by first breaking his arms, then burying him alive in a grave.
