நித்தரும் பரவு கிரியாம்

நீலகிரி வேலவன் நிராலம்பன் நிர்ப்பயன்

The Lord's peacock protects the entire universe (created by Parvati) with its wings, just like a peacock would shield the peahen's eggs;

சோதி இம வேதண்ட கன்னிகையர் தந்த அபிநய துல்ய சோம வதன (jOthiyima vEdhaNda kannikaiyar thandha abinaya thulya sOma vadhana) : She (Parvati) has the form of light; She was taken care of by the maids in the Himalaya mountains; She is decked amply; She is pure; Her face exudes cool light like the moon; அபிநய(abhinaya) : well dressed/decked; வேதண்டம் (vEthandam) : mountain; சோம வதன (soma vadana) : moon-like face; இம வேதண்ட கன்னிகையர் தந்த — இமயமலையிடத்தே மாதர்கள் தோழியராய் பாதுகாத்துத் தந்த;

நிரைசேர் ஆதி நெடு மூதண்ட அண்ட பகிரண்டங்கள் யாவும் (aadhinedu moodhaNda aNda bagiraNdangaL yaavum kodum siRaginaal) : a disciplined, well aligned, ancient and sprawling cosmos, நிரை சேர் (nirai sEr) : வரிசையாய் அமைந்துள்ள;

கொடும் சிறகினால் அணையும் தனது பேடை அண்டங்கள் என்னவே அணைக்கும் கலாப மயிலாம் (aNaiyum thanadhu pEdai aNdangaL ennavE aNaikkum kalabha mayilaam) : which the peacock hugs with its curved wings like it would guard the peahen's eggs.

Who is this peacock? It is the vehicle of the sovereign and fearless Lord Murugan and the nephew of Lord Vishnu.
