அரிவையர்கள் தொடரும் இன்பத்து (arivaiyargaL thodarum inbaththu) : Chasing women, pursuing sensual pleasures,

உலகு நெறி மிக மருண்டிட்டு (ulagu neRi miga marundittu) : and indulging in worldly pursuits, I became very stupefied.

அசடன் என மனது நொந்திட்டு அயராமல் (asadan ena manathu nonthittu ayarAmal) : and called a fool by others. Instead of feeling mentally distressed by this,

அநுதினமும் உவகை மிஞ்சி (anuthinamum uvagai minji) : I become excited every day,

சுக நெறியை விழைவு கொண்டிட்டு (suga neRiyai vizhaivu koNdittu) : and seek trivial pleasures and long for them,

அவ நெறியின் விழையும் ஒன்றை தவிர்வேனோ (ava neRiyin vizhaiyum onRai thavirvEnO) : I tread a sinful path willingly; when will I learn to avoid this immoral desire?

பரிதி மதி நிறைய நின்ற அஃது என ஒளிரும் (parithi mathi niRaiya ninRa ahthu ena oLirum) : Just like the sun and the moon shining in unison, சூரியனும் சந்திரனும் சேர்ந்து பூரண ஒளியுடன் நின்ற அந்தத் தன்மையை ஒப்ப விளங்குகின்ற; பரிதி (parithi) : sun;

செரு விலகும் அசுரர் மங்க (seru vilagum asurar manga) : The demons (asuras) retreating from the battlefield were disgraced; செரு (seru) : battle;

குல கிரிகள் நடு நடுங்க (kula girigaL nadu nadunga) : the famous Mounts of yore (like Krouncha) were shaken;

சிலுசிலு என வலை குலுங்க (silu silu ena valai kulunga) : the waves in the seas were turbulent; வலை (valai) : sea;

திடமான செயம் உதவும் மலர் பொரும் கை தலம் (thidamAna seyam uthavum malar porum kai thalam) : when Your strong, flower-like hands that bring victory

இலகும் அயில் கொளும் சத்தியை விடுதல் புரியும் ( ilagum ayilkoLum saththiyai viduthal puriyum ) : fling the sharp powerful Spear called SakthiVEl! அயில் (ayil) : sharp;
