பகல் இராவினும் கருவியால் அ(ன்)னம் பருகி (pagal irAvinum karuviyAl anam parugi) : Every day and night, I use my bodily organs to consume food

ஆவி கொண்டு உடல் பேணி (AvikoNdu udal pENi) : to sustain my life and to nurture my body.

பழைய வேதமும் புதிய நூல்களும் பல புராணமும் சில ஓதி (pazhaiya vEdhamum pudhiya nUlgaLum pala purANamum sila Odhi) : After studying old scriptures and some new writings and a few epics,

அகல(ம்) நீளம் என்று அளவு கூற அரும் பொருளிலே அமைந்து அடைவோரை (agala neeLam endru aLavu kUR arum poruLilE amaindhu adaivOrai) : some scholars who have understood the rare truth that cannot be measured in terms of length and breadth and have immersed themselves in that Bliss,

அசடர் மூகர் என்று அவலமே மொழிந்து (asadar mUkar endru avalamE mozhindhu) : I ridicule (those scholars) as fools and dumb;

அறிவிலேன் அழிந்திடலாமோ (aRivilEn azhin dhidalAmO) : should I be so stupid and destroy myself?

சகல லோகமும் புகல (sakala lOkamum pugala) : The whole world praises,

நாள் தோறும் சறுகு இ(ல்)லாத செம் கழு நீரும் (nALthorum saRugilAdha seng kazhu neerum) : the red kazhuneer flowers, which bloom every day without fail, சறுகு இ(ல்)லாத (saRugilAdha ) : blooming without fail;

தளவு நீபமும் புனையும் மார்ப (thaLavu neebamum punaiyu mArba) : the jasmine and kadamba flowers that decorate Your chest, தளவு(thaLavu) : mullai flower;

தென் தணிகை மேவு செம் கதிர் வேலா (thenthaNigai mEvu seng kadhir vElA) : and You have chosen this beautiful place ThiruththaNigai as Your abode, Oh MurugA with the brilliant spear!
