Paraphrase

The Vaguppu form of poetry has a theme/subject at its core, and all of its stanzas describe the traits, attributes, and essential qualities of that subject. Only the last stanza of the poetry announces the subject about which the descriptions have so far been given. In seerpada vaguppu, Arunagirinathar describes the splendour of Lord's twin feet, its grandeur, magnanimity and power. Seer stands for prosperity, wealth, beauty, gracefulness and excellence. Seer padam means illustrious feet. The poem describes various accomplishments, feats and triumphs and finally attributes them To His feet. The feet here are the symbolic/metaphoric descrption of the Brahman. முருகனின் பாதங்களின் பெருமையை பற்றி விவரிக்கும் பாடல் இது.

When the deluge occurs at the end of the yuga, all lives and all smaller universes or 'andams' in the 'pErandam' collapse, dissolve, and merge into Prakriti and emerge from it when cosmic creation starts again. Lord's feet are the bright light that dispel the darkness of the entire universe when the infinite cyclic creation phase begins at the start of the new yuga.

(O Muruga! Your Feet) Which rise from the emerald green ocean like the dazzling light from thousand millions of suns sitting on a golden chariot driven by seven fast, multi-hued and pedigreed horses; மரகத (maragatha) : emerald; அருண (aruNa ) : red; உததி (uthadhi ) : ocean; கனக ரத (kanaga ratha ) : golden chariot; பொன் மயமான தேரில்; குல துரக (kula turaga ) : horses of good breed; உயர்ந்த ஜாதியைச் சார்ந்த குதிரைகள் பூட்டப்பட்ட; உப லளித – வனப்பு வாய்ந்த, ,
The seven horses can be conceived as the seven colors comprising the white light of the sun; or they may be thought of as the Sapta Swaras originating from the “Dumru” of Lord Shiva. In fact the first musical note Shadja ('sa') generates the other six notes.

அதிக வித கலப கக மயிலின் மிசை யுக முடிவில் இருள் அகல ஒரு சோதி வீசுவதும் ( adhikavidha kalaba gaga mayilin misai uga mudivin iruL agala orujOthi veesuvadhum ) : emitting a bright light and dissipating the darkness at the end of the yuga when You come riding on top of a multi-hued peacock; அதிக வித கலப கக மயிலின் மிசை ( athiga vitha kalabha gaga mayilin misai) : on a peacock that has indescribably beautiful and multiple-hued plumes; கலப – தோகை; கக(ம்) – பறவை;

Lord's feet are what the Yogis who surrender themselves and get absorbed in the blissful trance of Shiva Anubhuti seek and look into their hearts with their spiritual eyes;

Believing that the ultimate objective should be to attain redemption while there is life permeating the body – Sadeha-mukti, which is mukti along with the body (i.e., there is realization at the time of departure from the body), the yogis practice Shiva Yoga, which is the repository of sadakshara mantra;
Ultimate purpose of any spiritual discipline is to attain immortality and realize his own eternal existence by freeing the imperishable soul imprisoned in the body by the three gunas, the five senses of perception and the mind. ("I am not the mind, chitta, ahamkara, buddhi or the organs of perception - ears, skin, nose or eyes, the 5 sheaths of consciousness, but the satchidananda form of Siva, which is pure consciousness and bliss" - "chidananda rupah shivo'ham shivo'ham" - nirvana shataka)

We believe the mind the to be 'I' and lose ourselves in the mire of experiences of the mind. But the yogis remain awake in the in the timeless space ('Chitaskasha') where there is no day or night; only the primordial sound of 'om', which is the progenitor of all mantras. That is the siva yoga.
உலகம் ஒருவி ( ulagam oruvi ) : after ridding the attachment to the world; மநு பவன (manu bavana) : மந்திரங்களுக்கு இருப்பிடமான, சிவ யோக சாதனையில் (sivayoga sAthanaiyil) : சிவ யோக பயிற்சியில்; உயிர் நிலை பெறுதல் (uyir nilai peRuthal) : Yogis who reach highest levels of consciousness can attain 'mukti' or liberation with their physical bodies. அழிவு பெறாது நிலைத்திருத்தல்;

They go beyond the theologists of various religions, who argue : 'it is there, it is not there, it is with form, it is not with form'. They are beyond the reach of the warring religious demagogues.

and they (Thy feet) stay in the Hearts of Jnanis who are totally absorbed in the boundless super consciousness called Shiva and become speechless, expand their limited minds and bodies, and become one with the Universal Consciouness; they experience the boundless joy of Thy feet; உளபடியை = எப்போதும் சாஸ்வதமாய் திகழும் மெய்ப் பொருளை, அநுபூதி ஆனது = அனுபவ ஞானமாய் விளங்கி நிற்பது;

Lord Murugan's feet are akin to the boat that transport souls from the ocean of birth; they are indestructible and are my goal and destination.

In the following line, saint-poet Arunagirinathar asserts his prerogative as Murugan's hereditary slave, who carried this unique position of a slave in all his past births, a fact which Murugan made known to the world by wearing as garland his nectar-like poems, which were sung in a state of divine ecstasy.
