Paraphrase

It is the duty of the Lord to take care of the ardent followers of those devotees who utter His name and smear the sacred ash on their bodies. If He didn't enquire after their welfare, who will praise Him, asks Saint Arunagirinathar.

ஆறுமுகம் ஆறுமுகம் ஆறுமுகம் ஆறுமுகம் ஆறுமுகம் ஆறுமுகம் என்று பூதி (ARumugam ARumugam ARumugam ARumugam ARumugam ARumugam enRupUthi) : Uttering 'Arumugam' six times and smearing the sacred ash; saying 'Arumugam six times helps us to eliminate/destroy six internal enemies called shadripus i.e., Lust (Sanskrit: Kama), Greed (Lobha), Anger (Krodha), Pride (Mada), Attachment (Moha), Covetousness (Matsarya).

ஆகம் அணி மாதவர்கள் பாத மலர் சூடும் அடியார்கள் பதமே துணை அது என்று ( AgamaNi mAdhavargaL pAthamalar sUdum adiyArgaL pathamE thuNaiyath enRu ) : on their bodies, and trusting the flower-like feet of such ardent devotees to be their sole refuge,

நாளும் ஏறு மயில் வாகன குகா சரவணா எனது ஈச என் மானம் உனது என்று மோதும் (nALum ERumayil vAgana guhA saravaNA enathu eesa ena mAnamunathu enRu mOthum) : pleading and chanting 'oh, the rider of peacock', 'oh, resident in bhakta's cave-like hearts' and 'oh (god), born amidst the clump of Saravana reeds', 'my god', 'my respect is yours'

ஏழைகள் வியாகுலம் இது ஏது என வினாவில் உனை ஏவர் புகழ்வார் மறையும் என் சொலாதோ (EzhaigaL viyAkulam ithEthu ena vinAvil unai yEvar pugazvAr maRaiyum ensolAthO) : If You did not heed to the prayers (of those who prayed to you as above), solicitously inquiring 'oh, poor soul, what is your problem', then who would praise you and what would the scriptures say?

நீறு படு மாழை பொரு மேனியவ (neeRupadu mAzhai poru mEniyava) : Smeared with the holy ash, gold-complexioned; திருநீறு படிந்துள்ள சரீரம் உடையவரே!

வேல அணி நீல மயில் வாக (vEla aNi neela mayil vAga: wielding a 'vel', you have the beautiful blue peacock as your vehicle, அணி = அழகான;

உமை தந்த வேளே (umai thanthavELE: You are the son of Uma Devi; நீசர்கள் தம்மோடு எனது தீ வினை எலாம் மடிய நீடு தனி வேல் விடும் மடங்கல் வேலா ( neesarkaL tha(m)mOdu theevinai elAm madiya needu thani vEl vidu madangkal vElA) : Wield your long and unparalleled spear which is fierce like VatavAgni (the fire in the ocean that has the shape of a mare, which keeps the water from submerging the earth and which will rise and flood the land at the time of pralaya) to destroy my bad karmas along with evil people, Oh, VelA.

சீறி வரும் மாறு அவுணன் ஆவி உ(ண்)ணும் ஆனை முக தேவர் துணைவா ( seeRi varumARu avuNan Avi uNum Anaimuga thEvar thuNaivA ) : You are the brother of the elephant-faced Ganesha who took away the life of the asura (Gajamukhasuran), who came angrily, charging at him; மாறு ( maRu) : hostile, பகைமை கொண்ட;

சிகரி அண்டர் கூடம் சேரும் அழகு ஆர் பழநி வாழ் குமரனே ( sikari aNdar kUdam sErum azhagAr pazhani vAz kumaranE ) : Your abode is Pazhani, where high mountain peaks reach up to the roof of the sky!

பிரம தேவர் வரதா முருக தம்பிரானே. (pirama thEvar varathA muruga thambirAnE.) : You are the giver of boons to Lord Brahma and You are the Chief of all chiefs. தம்பிரான் = தனக்குத்தானே தலைவன்;
